Fall fun, foliage and relaxation happening now at Crystal Mountain

September 29, 2022

THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. (September 29, 2022) – The time for a chairlift ride, bike ride or keeping warm by a campfire is now. Fall Fun Saturdays kick off at Crystal Mountain Oct. 1. Immerse yourself in the colorful trees with a bike ride or hike on miles of wooded trails, or gaze on from above via Scenic Chairlift Ride. There is plenty of fall family fun to be had this season.

“There are so many unique ways to experience fall in northern Michigan at Crystal Mountain,” Recreation Manager Jen Roberts said. “The trees are already starting to change colors, which really gets us excited to welcome people for biking, hiking, chairlift rides, and a variety of fall activities. There’s a reason the scenic chairlift rides are so popular this time of year; the view of bright fall foliage spread across three counties is something everyone should see for themselves.”

A scenic chairlift ride is just one of the many activities people can enjoy on Fall Fun Saturdays in October. Other activities include:

  • Bike Rental
  • Chairlift Assisted Biking
  • Disc Golf
  • Fall Sand Art
  • Edge Adventure Course and Climbing Wall
  • Crystal Coaster Alpine Slide
  • Archery and Archery Tag
  • Outdoor Laser Tag
  • Campfires

Additional activities begin Oct. 15 and can be found on the Crystal Mountain Event Calendar.

Plus, there are specialty events to enjoy! Join Naturalist Caitlin Chism on a Fall Color Tour through Michigan Legacy Art Park as she explains the wonders of nature surrounding 50+ sculptures along a 2-mile trail. Beginning Oct. 15, join a fleet of cyclists on a Fall Color Bike Tour, reserve your spot on a Wagon Ride through the Crystal Village Core, or vote for your favorite scarecrow along the Scarecrow Walk.

Along with weekly activities, Crystal Mountain has a long list of events catered to the changing seasons. Mountain Sports is hosting a series of Saturday clinics to make sure you’re fully prepared for the slopes:

  • Oct. 1: Pre- Season Prep and Fitness Talk
  • Oct. 8: Ski 101 – What ski is for me?
  • Oct. 15: Boots 101 – How to get the right fit
  • Oct. 29: Outerwear 101 – What to wear
  • Nov. 5: Tuning 101 – Stay sharp
  • Nov. 12: Wax 101 – Stay smooth on the slopes

“The Fall Saturday Series is the perfect opportunity to see what’s new this season, and also make sure your gear from past seasons is still right for you,” Mountain Sports Retail manager Jim Riley said. “Not to mention, anyone who attends the clinics will be entered in to win some pretty sweet, high-value prizes.”

Other new events happening this fall at Crystal Mountain include the Crystal Community Ski Club Grinder Rollerski Race, a fundraiser to support youth skiing and snowboarding programs. And Junior Bikes Races to debut the new Multi-User bike loop complete with beginner-friendly berms, rollers and single track.
